Exclusive Cover Reveal: Triple Threat by Katie Chandler

Today on the site I’m excited to welcome back Katie Chandler to reveal the cover of her next tennis Romance, Triple Threat, releasing December 8, 2026 from Atria Books! Here’s the story:

From the author of the “exquisite” (The New York Times) Backhanded Compliments, a steamy sports romance about a disgraced tennis star, the ex-pro who becomes her coach, and the soulmate they share. Perfect for fans of Challengers and Carrie Soto Is Back.

Octavia Ricci has spent her entire life proving she doesn’t need anyone—especially not her father, the controlling coach who built her career and broke her spirit. But after a public meltdown at the Australian Open, the icy Grand Slam champion isn’t sure if she ever wants to play again. She agrees to take it one tournament at a time, now under a new coach, determined to find her footing and love of the game again.

Ariel de Cordova was once the next big thing in tennis until a devastating injury ended his career. Now, with his confidence shot, he’s not sure he can handle another player’s comeback story—especially not a player as volatile as Octavia. But as they practice, they both tentatively open up about their experiences and begin to heal their deepest wounds.

The only stable, grounding presence in Octavia’s life is her soulmate and partner, Leo Mantovani. But he has two soulmarks on his wrist, and when Leo shakes hands with Octavia’s new coach for the first time, Ariel turns out to be Leo’s other soulmate. Knowing the optics of a player and coach relationship aren’t ideal, they decide to keep their relationship secret and surface-level.

While Octavia, Ariel, and Leo fight to keep their relationship private, the tennis world is watching their every move. But when the spotlight turns harsh and old wounds resurface, they’ll have to decide if love is worth risking their careers, their reputations, and their hearts.

And here’s the athletic cover, designed by Kelli McAdams and illustrated by Liza Rusalskaya!

It’s All or Nothing, Vale by Andrea Beatriz Arango

All these months of staring at the wall?
All these months of feeling weak?
It’s ending—
I’m going back to fencing.
And then it’ll be
like nothing ever happened.

No one knows hard work and dedication like Valentina Camacho. And Vale’s thing is fencing. She’s the top athlete at her fencing gym. Or she was . . . until the accident.

After months away, Vale is finally cleared to fence again, but it’s much harder than before. Her body doesn’t move the way it used to, and worst of all is the new number one: Myrka. When she sweeps Vale aside with her perfect form and easy smile, Vale just can’t accept that. But the harder Vale fights to catch up, the more she realizes her injury isn’t the only thing holding her back. Exclusive Cover Reveal: Backhanded Compliments by Katie Chandler

Today on the site I’m thrilled to reveal the cover of Backhanded Compliments by Katie Chandler, a speculative Sapphic tennis romance releasing June 10, 2025 from Atria Books! Here’s the story:

A steamy debut sapphic sports romance with a light speculative twist, in the vein of One Last Stop and Expiration Dates, in which bitter tennis rivals Juliette Ricci and Luca Kacic realize they are soulmates when the marks on their wrists fill in with each other’s names after shaking hands at the end of an intense Australian Open match.

Juliette Ricci wants one thing: to be the best women’s tennis player in the world. She’s worked nonstop with her strict father (and coach) to prepare for the Australian Open, her big chance to catapult up in the rankings. Unfortunately, she’ll be playing “Lucky Luca,” an aloof player whose unorthodox style and popularity are deeply irritating to Juliette. Fans are living for the drama after watching them trade sly insults in their individual press conferences for months. Their first ever match together is the most anticipated of the season, but Juliette refuses to let her nerves—or Luca’s annoyingly perfect abs—get the best of her.

International tennis star Luca Kacic is primed to take the number one spot, but what she really wants is to find her person. When she shakes hands with Juliette after an agonizing match and sees her rival’s name filled in on her wrist, it feels like a cruel cosmic joke. Juliette is a spoiled, arrogant brat who wants absolutely nothing to do with Luca or the idea of a soulmate.

Luca and Juliette are drawn back together for a charity match and forced to face their intense feelings. Despite their personal and professional clashes, the two grow closer after late-night massages and one too many shots of limoncello in gorgeous Naples. Their chemistry is tangible, but Luca’s anxiety tells her that Juliette is just messing with her head to throw Luca off her game, and Juliette can’t understand why Luca is so hot and cold. With the pressure of the world scrutinizing their every move, Juliette and Luca will have to decide what’s more important—being together or being number one.

And here’s the ace of a cover, designed by Kelli McAdams and illustrated by Liza Rusalskaya!
