ARC Giveaway: The Other Man by Farhad J. Dadyburjor

The gifts of Pride month continue with this giveaway for two advance reader copies of The Other Man by Farhad J. Dadyburjor, a gay rom-com set in Mumbai (!) and releasing October 12th from Lake Union Publishing! Here’s the story:

Heir to his father’s Mumbai business empire, Ved Mehra has money, looks, and status. He is also living as a closeted gay man. Thirty-eight, lonely, still reeling from a breakup, and under pressure from his exasperated mother, Ved agrees to an arranged marriage. He regrettably now faces a doomed future with the perfectly lovely Disha Kapoor.

Then Ved’s world is turned upside down when he meets Carlos Silva, an American on a business trip in India. As preparations for his wedding get into full swing, Ved finds himself drawn into a relationship he could never have imagined—and ready to take a bold step. Ved is ready to embrace who he is and declare his true feelings regardless of family expectations and staunch traditions. But with his engagement party just days away, and with so much at risk, Ved will have to fight for what he wants—if it’s not too late to get it.

  1. My favorite rom com trope is when the lovers finally realize their feelings and suddenly kiss in public and . . . Suddenly it is raining. It is always raining. Like, there’s always lots of rain.

  2. My favorite romance trope is enemies to lovers. I love when the two characters dislike each other and then something happens and shifts that they start liking each other.

    1. The person who’s put up all these walls, and the one person who manages to work their way inside anyways!

  3. My favorite trope is definitely enemies to lovers! But falling in love while abroad/on vacation is a close second!

  4. My favorite trope has always been and always will be enemies to lovers 😁 There’s just something about that storyline that gets me every time!!

  5. Def all involved parties being totally clueless about romantic feelings being reciprocated and the whole rabbit trail that follows

  6. Pining and miscommunication leading to one person thinking they’re being rejected when they’re not.

  7. Ahh, I love the sound of The Other Man! Thank you for a chance at an ARC. My favorite trope is second chance. I’m a sucker for people finding their way back to each other.

  8. My favorite romcom trope is fake relationship. Two people having to pretend to be in love, all while likely pining for each other? Perfect!

  9. Settling on one sounds impossible so I’m going with a combination of Enemies to Lovers and Character A being super grumpy/strict/mean but gets soft for Character B 🥺 peak when they overlap hehe

  10. My favorite is the fish-out-of-water trope. Whether it be two be getting used to another culture or country, it always leads to great fun and a greater understanding. As an Indian-American, I look forward to reading this book and seeing if this trope is part of it!
